Question : Hiring of Manpower to Protect Monuments

(a) whether the Government has hired casual labourers for working at various centrally protected monuments/sites in the country, if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether the Government has received complaints that these casual labourers are not being paid minimum wages as prescribed by the Labour Commissioner of the concerned States; and

(c) if so, the details thereof and the action taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) to (c) Due to shortage of staff need based workers are engaged as and when necessity arises for upkeep of protected monuments and minimum wages are paid to them as prescribed by Labour Commissioner of the concerned State. Being project based the number of workers keeps on changing. The complaints/representations received are duly considered as per rules and addressed.
