Question : MODERNISATION OF TELEGRAPH SERVICE



(a) whether the Government propose to modernise telegraph service in Uttar Pradesh during 2001-2002;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the funds allocated for the purpose?

(a) & (b): Modernisation of telegraph services in Uttar Pradesh has been done by inducting micro-processor based Electronic Message switches. One 128 line and five 32 line Store and Forward Message Switching Systems (SFMSS), 21 Electronic Key Board Concentrators (EKBCs) and 6 formatted Terminal Concentrators (FTCs) have already been provided.

The modernisation is an ongoing process and is done on the need basis. However, there is no specific proposal for 2001-2002.

(c) No specific funds have been allocated for this purpose.
