Question : VIGILANCE MONITORING COMMITTEES



(a) whether the Monitoring and Vigilance Committees appointed recently with the involvement of the concerned Member of Parliament to monitor the implementation of the Rural Development Programmes have started functioning;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) if not, the reasons therefor; and

(d) the time by which these are likely to start functioning?

(a) Yes, Sir.

(b) Reports have been received from the States of Bihar, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh about convening the meetings of District Level Vigilance and Monitoring Committees.

(c) Question does not arise.

(d) The Chairmenship of all the District Level Vigilance and Monitoring Committees have been requested to hold the meeting latest by 31st March, 2003. However reports on holding the meeting are still awaited from many districts. The State Governments have again been advised to extend assistance and co-operation for holding the meetings at the earliest.
