STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (c) OF STARRED QUESTION NO. 414 BY SHRI RODMAL NAGAR TO BE ANSWERED IN LOK SABHA ON 24.03.2021 REGARDING REVAMPING OF RAILWAY STATIONS
(a) to (c): Ministry of Railways has planned to redevelop stations over Indian Railways by leveraging real estate potential of sparable land and air-space in and around the stations, by inviting private participation. For this, Railway conducts techno-economic feasibility studies and stations are taken up for redevelopment in a phased manner based on the outcome of these feasibility studies.

Amongst aspirational districts, works for techno-economic feasibility studies for redevelopment of stations are planned at Khandwa and Singrauli stations in the State of Madhya Pradesh; Aurangabad, Begusarai, Gaya and Muzaffarpur stations in the state of Bihar; Bokaro and Ranchi stations in the state of Jharkhand; Rayagada station in the State of Orissa and Jaisalmer station in the State of Rajasthan.

Station redevelopment program is first of its kind and complex in nature and requires detailed techno-financial feasibility studies and involves multiple stakeholders consultations including pre-bid conferences. Various statutory clearances from Urban/local bodies; therefore, no time-frame can be indicated at this stage.
