Question : Task Force for Aviation Sector

(a) whether the US-India Business Council has launched a task force on Civil Aviation for identifying opportunities to aid the implementation of the National Civil Aviation Policy and if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether India has witnessed annual growth exceeding 20 per cent in domestic traffic with the total passenger traffic estimated to reach 270 million by the end of 2017 and if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the US-India Business Council task force would engage with various stakeholders to promote international best practices and address potential hurdles that surface as American and Indian companies deepen engagement in India''s burgeoning civil aviation market and if so, the details thereof; and

(d) whether the task force aims to promote bilateral dialogue by being the voice of industry partnering with Government to organize trade missions and advocating for regulatory changes on behalf of its members and if so, the details thereof?

(a) Ministry of Civil Aviation has no information about the formation of such task force on civil aviation by the US-India Business Council (USIBC).;

(b) India has witnessed domestic air passenger growth of 20.9% and 23.2% in the calendar year 2015 and 2016 respectively. Further, the total passenger traffic (domestic + international) in 2017 is estimated to 179.37 million.

(c) & (d) Do not arise.
