Answer given by the minister

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF WATER RESOURCES (SMT. BIJOYA CHAKRAVARTY)

(a) to (c) The Government of Bihar had submitted project reports for Kamla and Bagmati Projects to Union Government in 1983, salient features of which were sent to the Government of Nepal in 1985. A feasibility report for Sapt Kosi High Dam Porject was prepared by the Central Water Commission in 1981.
Both the Governments of Nepal and India have decided to take up field surveys and investigations to prepare a joint detailed project report of Sapt Kosi-Sun Kosi Multipurpose Project based on an agreed inception report of the project. Further progress of preparation of detailed project report of Sapt Kosi High Dam project will depend on the outcome of the deliberations of the subsequent meetings of the Indo-Nepal Joint Team of Experts. Response of Government of Nepal on Kamla & Bagmati Projects for the present is not encouraging.
