Question : Setting up of NICDIT

(a) whether it is a fact that the Union Government had set up a National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT) to oversee development of all industrial corridors in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether it is also a fact that funds meant for industrial corridors will be routed through NICDIT;

(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor; and

(e) the details of the amount sanctioned and released so far to various industrial corridors, including Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor in the current financial year and also proposed to be released in the next two years, corridor-wise?

(a) & (b): Yes, Madam. The Government has set up National Industrial Corridor Development & Implementation Trust (NICDIT) for integrated development of Industrial Corridors in the country with the following composition:-

1.Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion;
2. Secretary, Department of Expenditure;
3. Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs;
4. Secretary, Road Transport and Highways;
5. Secretary, Shipping ;
6. Chairman, Railway Board;
7. CEO, NITI Aayog;
8. CEO, NICDIT

(c) Yes, Madam.

(d) & (e): Amount sanctioned and released so far to various industrial corridors in the current financial year is Rs. 800 Crore. The amount sanctioned for Financial Year 2018-19 is Rs.1100 Crore and funds for Financial Year 2019-20 have not been finalized.
