Question : VIOLATION OF RTE ACT



(a) the number of cases relating to violation of RTE Act, 2009 reported from each State/UT;

(b) the action taken/proposed to be taken in this regard;

(c) whether the Government proposes to set up a help line for the benefit of parents and students with regard to the implementation of the above Act; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has informed that it has received 59 complaints relating to the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009. The RTE Act provides that the NCPCR and the State Commissions for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCRs) shall examine and review the safeguards for rights provided under the RTE Act, inquire into complaints relating to rights of the child under the Act and take necessary steps in accordance with the provisions of Commissions for Protection of Child Rights Act.

(c) & (d): The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Rules, 2010 inter alia provides for setting up a child helpline by the NCPCR to register complaints relating to rights of the child under the RTE Act.
