(a) the details of the benefits availed by the students belonging to Economically Backward Classes (EBCs);

(b) whether the Government proposes to set up a Commission/Committee to look into the problems faced by EBC students; and

(c) if so, the details thereof and the steps taken in this regard and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a): The following new schemes for the welfare of Economically Backward Classes (EBCs) have been launched in 2014-15 with the approval of the competent authority:-
(i) Dr. Ambedkar Central Sector Scheme of Interest Subsidy on Educational Loan for Overseas Studies for Economically Backward Classes (EBCs)
(ii) Dr. Ambedkar Post-Matric Scholarship for the Economically Backward Class Students (Centrally Sponsored Scheme).
Further, the Government of India through Ministry of Human Resource Development runs a Mid- Day Meal Scheme under which mid day meal is provided on each school day at prescribed norms to children studying in the classes I- VIII in Government, Government aided, and Special Training Centers including Madrasas & Maqtabs recognized under SSA irrespective of class, caste and gender of the student.

(c): Does not arise in view of (b) above.
