Question : New National Highways

(a) the details of new National Highway projects sanctioned in the country along with cost of these projects, State/UT-wise and project-wise during the last three years;

(b) the details of the awarded road projects during the last three years;

(c) whether the Government has withheld the work on some of the Highway projects and if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor; and

(d) whether the Government has ordered a high level enquiry in irregularities and use of sub-standard material in construction of NHs in various States, State/UT-wise, including Rajasthan, Bihar and Jharkhand, if so, the details thereof?

(a) The details of new National Highway projects sanctioned during the last three years along with their cost is enclosed as Annexure-I.

(b) and (c) The details of new National Highway projects awarded during the last three years is enclosed as Annexure-II. Some contracts have been terminated in terms of the concession agreements due to several reasons.

(d) All National Highways projects are constructed as per quality standards specified in Indian Road Congress (IRC) / Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRT&H) specifications. National Highways are regularly inspected and tested as per extant policy for quality/irregularities of construction materials/work by the Supervision Consultants/Independent Engineers/Authority Engineers, quality auditors and officers of the implementing agencies namely, National Highways Authority of India, State Public Works Departments and Border Road Organisation including officers of the Ministry.
