Question : Art education teachers


(a) whether it is mandatory for the art education teachers(painting, music) to possess B.Ed and BSTC (DLD) degrees and if so, the details thereof including standard norm including all those eligibility rules alongwith the number of such teachers, category-wise;
(b) whether it is necessary for the degree, diploma holder candidates applying for the post of teachers of compulsory arts education upto class 10 to have B.Ed, B.S.T.C. degree;
(c) whether it is necessary for the degree, diploma holder candidates compulsory education (painting, music) to have B.ED, B.S.T.T.C degree;
(d) if so, the details thereof;
(e) whether the Government proposes to fix minimum qualifications for compulsory Art education and work experience education teachers upto class 10th; and
(f) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (e) : National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has not prescribed minimum qualifications for the Art Education Teachers. Till such time the NCTE lays down the minimum qualification in respect of such teachers, as per para 5 (b) of the NCTE Notification dated 29th July, 2011 the minimum qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher of Art Education, Craft Education, Home Science, Work Education, etc., the existing eligibility norms prescribed by the State Governments and other school management shall be applicable.
