Question : CONSTRUCTION OF TERMINALS ON NATIONAL WATERWAYS



(a) whether construction of some permanent terminals on the National Waterways is under progress;

(b) if so, the details thereof Waterway-wise;

(c) the time by which the said work is likely to be completed;

(d) whether the Government propose to set up another permanent terminal at G.R. Jetty, Calcutta on National Waterway 1,; and

(e) if so, the time by which the proposed terminal is likely to be ready?

(a) & (b) Yes, Sir. Central Public Works Department(CPWD) have been awarded the work to construct one permanent terminal at Patna in National Waterway No.1(NW-1), and 11 permanent terminals on National Waterway No.3. CPWD has also been entrusted with Geo-technical investigation for preparation of estimate for construction of permanent terminal at Pandu in National Waterway No.2.

(c) Schedule of completion for construction of terminal at Patna is two years from the date of sanction of revised cost estimate and for the terminals in NW-3, it is three years

(d) & (e) Yes, Sir. Schedule of completion for this terminal is about two years, after the approval of the revised cost estimate.
