Question : Sankalp Project

(a) whether the Government has launched a project called ''Sankalp'' to channelize the skill, experience and time available with the Central Government Pensioners into meaningful social intervention;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the objective behind this move;

(c) the number of Pensioners/ Pensioners Associations registered under this project so far; and

(d) whether the Government has taken any steps to create awareness among retiring employees about this project and if so, the details thereof and the outcome in this regard?

(a) & (b): Yes, Madam. The Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare has initiated scheme in January 2014, “Sankalp” which aims at channelizing skill, experience and time available with retired government servants into meaningful, voluntary contribution to society. This would add to the social capital of the country and at the same time restore dignity and purpose to life post-retirement.
(c): So far, around 1600 Pensioners and 19 Pensioners’ Associations have successfully registered under Sankalp.
(d): To create awareness amongst retiring employees about this project, the Department has been conducting Pre-Retirement Counseling workshops regularly. So far 28 such workshops for retiring Government employees of various Ministries/Departments in New Delhi and for Central Armed Police Forces at different locations in the country have been conducted. Further, 7 Training of Trainers workshops for Central Armed Police Forces have been conducted at their establishments in which 502 trainers have been trained for conducting their own Pre-Retirement Counseling workshops.
