Question : FAME-II Scheme

(a) the salient features of the FAME-II Scheme;

(b) the details of the number of vehicles likely to be included under this scheme across the country;

(c) the details of the incentives likely to be offered to the States under this scheme including Maharashtra and West Bengal;

(d) whether the Government is planning to include electric bicycle under this scheme and if so, the details thereof; and

(e) the time by which it is likely to be implemented along with the target likely to be set for this scheme?

(a) to (e): The learnings from Phase-1 of FAME India Scheme [Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid &) Electric Vehicles in India] have been woven into the second phase of the proposed scheme. The Phase-II of FAME India scheme proposes to give a push to electric vehicles (EVs) in public transport and seeks to encourage adoption of EVs by way of market creation and demand aggregation. The draft scheme has envisaged the holistic growth of EV industry, including providing for charging infrastructure, research and development of EV technologies and push towards greater indigenization. However, the Phase-II of FAME India Scheme has not been finalized yet.

The Phase-1 of FAME India scheme is still continuing and is available upto 31st March 2019.
