Question : PROCUREMENT OF FOODGRAINS



(a) the quantity of foodgrains and the rate at which it is procured from the farmers directly in the country and particularly in Madhya Pradesh during the last three years and the current financial year;

(b) the quantity of foodgrains stored in Government and non-Government godowns during the said period;

(c) the quantity of foodgrains rotted out of this or submerged in water during rainy season and could not be utilised for consumption; and

(d) the action taken against the guilty persons?

(a) Minimum Support Prices (MSPs) of paddy and wheat and their quantities procured at these MSPs from farmers in Madhya Pradesh and the country as a whole during the last three years and the current year are given at Annexure.

(b) The total quantities of rice (including paddy in terms of rice) and wheat available
in the Central Pool as on 01.04.2009, 01.04.2010, 01.04.2011, 01.04.2012 were as under:

As on 01.11.2012, the total stock of rice and wheat available in Central Pool was 695.29 lakh tons, including 405.75 lakh tons of rice and 289.54 lakh tons of wheat.
(c) The quantity of foodgrains in Food Corporation of India (FCI) accrued as damaged/
non-issuable during the last three years and current year are as under:
