(a): The policy guidelines relating to provision of stoppages of Mail/Express trains, inter alia, stipulates to consider the following factors:
(1) Total sale of tickets at the station for both UP & DN direction for all the trains already stopping at the station, distance wise, class-wise & cost-wise (2) trains already stopping/availability of alternative services, convenience & occupancy of the existing services (3) effect on line capacity of the section and punctuality of trains (4) population & significance of towns/cities & new developments taking place (5) nature of the train & occupancy of the train for which stoppage is demanded (6) operational constraints etc. (7) pattern of traffic at the station (8) passing time of the train at the station.
Also, the policy guidelines for provision of stoppages to trains is available on the official website of the Indian Railways viz. “www.indianrailways.gov.in”.
(b) & (c): Requests for provisions of stoppages of various trains are received from various quarters including State Governments and Members of Parliament at different levels of railway administration viz. Railway Stations, Divisions, Zonal Headquarters, Railway Board Level etc., and subject to traffic justification, operational feasibility, availability of resources etc., action as found feasible and justified is taken. However, a compendium of such proposals is not maintained by Indian Railways.
(d): No, Madam.
(e) & (f): Yes, Madam. However, at present, there is no proposal to provide stoppage of Mail/Express trains at Tumsar Road station due to operational and resource constraints.
