Question : AGRICULTURAL TRANSPORT LICENSE .

(a) whether the Government have any proposal to re-introduce the earlier system of `Agricultural Transport License` to the cotton suppliers in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government are aware the presently many cotton suppliers are evading Central Sales Tax on cotton bales; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and the steps taken/being taken to generate the revenue share of Central Government from the Central Sales Tax pool on this account?

(a) & (b) No such proposal is under consideration of the Government.

(c) & (d)Though Central Sales Tax (CST) is a Central levy, under section 9 of the Central Sales Tax, 1956, the tax is collected and retained totally by the States concerned.
