Question : REORGANISATION OF STRUCTURE OF EPFO



(a) whether the Government are considering to reorganize the structure of Employees Provident Fund Organisation by including unorganized labour;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether a large number of vacancies in clerical cadre are lying vacant in E.P.F.O.; and

(d) if so, the steps taken by the Government to fill up these vacancies?

(a) & (b): The Employees` Provident Fund Organisation has proposed certain amendments in the Employees` Provident Fund & Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952 to extend the coverage and scope of the schemes framed thereunder to cover the workers in the unorganized sector also.


(c) & (d): As on 31.3.2002 there are 552 vacancies in the clerical cadre (LDC) lying vacant in Employees` Provident Fund Organisation. The EPF Organisation has already sent a requisition to Staff Selection Commission for sponsoring of candidates for appointment to the post of Lower Division Clerk.
