Question : Opening of New Cultural Centres in North East Delhi

(a) whether the Government proposes to set up Cultural Centres in the entire country including Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi NCR for promotion of cultural heritage of India and its values among the youth;

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the steps taken by the Government in this regard;

(c) whether the Government has any proposal to open a New Cultural Centre in North East Delhi constituency area; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b) To protect, promote and preserve various forms of folk art and cultural heritage of India throughout the country including Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi NCR, the Government of India has already set up seven Zonal Cultural Centres (ZCCs) with headquarters at Patiala, Nagpur, Udaipur, Prayagraj, Kolkata, Dimapur and Thanjavur. These ZCCs organize various cultural activities and programmes all over the country on regular basis. The member States of these ZCCs are annexed (Annexure). Out of these ZCCs, Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC), Kolkata caters to the cultural need of Jharkhand and North Central Zone Cultural Centre (NCZCC), Prayagraj that of Uttar Pradesh and Delhi NCR.

(c) & (d) No such proposal is under the consideration of the Government of India.
