(b) if so, whether the Government propose to introduce announcements in regional languages particularly in Tamil;

(c) if so, the details thereof; and

(d) if not, the reasons therefor?

Answer given by the minister

THE MINISTER OF CIVIL AVIATION ( SHRI SYED SHAHNAWAZ HUSSAIN )

(a), (b) and (c):- Yes, Sir. Announcements by the airline staff at the airport and inflight announcements by the Cabin Crew are made in English and Hindi. However, the announcements at the airports are also made by the airlines in the local language of the State in which the airport is located, if it is not a Hindi speaking State. However, there is no proposal under consideration of the Government for making announcements in regional languages by Cabin Crew inside the aircraft in view of practical difficulties.

(d):- It is not practicable to deploy, in all flights, Cabin Crew who are proficient in various regional languages.
