Question : Vector Borne Diseases

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) the number of cases of vector borne diseases especially chikungunya, malaria and dengue reported and deaths caused during the last three years and the current year, State/UT-wise and year-wise;

(b) whether the Government proposes to launch any National programme in Public-Private Partnership mode to prevent and control such diseases and if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the funds allocated and released for the implementation of the programmes/ schemes for vector borne diseases during the last three years and the current year?

(a): The number of cases of Chikungunya, Malaria and Dengue reported and deaths caused during last three years and the current year, State/UT-wise and year-wise is at Annexure-I, II and III.

(b): The Government is already running the National Vector Borne Control Disease Control Programme under the National Health Mission. While no new programme is being considered to be launched in Public-Private Partnership mode or otherwise, the State Governments of Madhya Pardesh and Odissa have signed Memorandum of Understanding with private entities for malaria elimination.

(c): The details of funds allocated and released for implementation of the programmes/schemes for vector borne diseases during last three years and the current year, is given at Annexure-IV.
