Question : HEALTH REGULATOR



(a) whether various irregularities have been noticed by the Government in private Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) empanelled hospitals;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government has taken note of a number of private CGHS empanelled hospitals extracting crores of rupees from the Government by declaring patients who pass away during the treatment, as alive for many days; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and the action taken by the Government on erring hospitals along with the corrective measures taken/being taken by the Government to check such wrong practices in future?

(a) & (b): There are some complaints of denial of overcharging, denial of cashless facility and denial of admission in respect of some hospitals and diagnostic centres empanelled under CGHS. Details are at Annexure.

(c) & (d): No such case is on record.

High value bills of hospitals are thoroughly scrutinized in consultation with specialists of the concerned specialty, as and when required before making the payment.
