Question : Basic Urban Reforms

Will the Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs be pleased to state:
a) whether most of the municipalities in the cities selected under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation(AMRUT) lag in basic urban reforms;
b) if so, the facts and the details in this regard;
c) whether the Union Government proposes to effectively implement AMRUT in all the cities having population of 50000 and above; and
d) if so, the steps Union Government proposes to take to tone up the functioning of all the municipalities in the selected cities?

(a) :No, Madam. During the year 2015-16, 20 States/UTs have got the reform incentives for implementation of the 1st year reforms and during the year 2016-17, 16 States/UTs have got the reform incentives for implementation of 2nd year reforms.

(b) :Does not arise
(c)&(d): AMRUT covers cities having a population of one lakh and above apart from certain other categories of cities. The mission is being effectively implemented in all Mission cities.
