Question : REPATRIATION OF ALLEGED ASSASSIN OF MUSIC BARON



(a) whether the main accused in the murder of music baron Gulshan Kumar staying in Britain has now decided to settle down there and has sought asylum from the Government of Britain;

(b) if so, whether the Government have held any talks with the Government of Britain for his repatriation; and

(c) if so, the outcome thereof?

(a) (b) & (c) Government of India is aware that Mr. Nadeem Akhtar Saifi was in the UK from July, 1997 till March 14, 2001, as India`s request for his extradition was under consideration of Government of UK. The concerned Divisional Court in London disallowed the extradition request in December 2000. India`s application for permission to appeal this decision was turned down by the House of Lords in March 2001 and Mr. Nadeem Akhtar Saifi was released. Government of India are neither aware of his movements since then, nor about any asylum request by him to the UK authorities.
