(a) whether there is a plan to generate electricity utilizing various sources like coal, nuclear, natural gas, hydro-electric, wind, solar energy, geo thermal, etc. to make electricity available to every household of the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the time frame set to achieve the target of providing electricity to every household?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (c) OF STARRED QUESTION NO.165 ANSWERED IN THE LOK SABHA ON 09.12.2021 REGARDING ELECTRICITY TO EVERY HOUSEHOLD

(a) & (b) : At present, the total electricity requirement of all consumers including the household consumers in the country is met from various sources of installed generation capacities. The present source-wise generation capacity as on 30-11-2021 in the country is as below:

As against the installed capacity of 392 GW, peak demand in the country had only reached up to 203 GW in July, 2021. Thus, enough generation capacity is available to meet the electricity demand of all consumers including the Household consumers.
(c) : Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana (SAUBHAGYA) was launched in October, 2017 with the objective to achieve universal household electrification for providing electricity connections to all un-electrified households in rural areas and all poor households in urban areas in the country. Under Saubhagya scheme, as on 31.03.2021, all the States have reported 100% electrification of all the willing un-electrified households, identified before 31.03.2019.
