Question : CONDITION OF NATIONAL HIGHWAYS IN KERALA



(a) whether the National Highways in Kerala are in bad shape due to heavy rains;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government proposes to provide adequate funds for the immediate maintenance of these National Highways; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): There have been damages such as formation of pot holes, patches, erosion to berms etc. due to heavy rains on various National Highways in Kerala.

(c) & (d): A sum of Rs.30.60 crore has already been allocated for maintenance and repairs of National Highways in Kerala for the year 2006-07. Allocation of additional funds for flood damage repairs will depend upon the assessment of flood damages, inter se priority and overall availability of funds.
