Question : Disabilty Pension

(a) whether the Government provides uniform pension to the disabled in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof including the eligibility criterian;

(c) whether the persons with less than 50 percent disability do not get the benefit of pension; if so, the details thereof;

(d) whether the Government proposes to increase the pension of persons with disabilities; and

(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (c): Disability pension at the rate of Rs.300/- per month is uniformly being disbursed to persons belonging to Below Poverty Line (BPL) households, having severe and multiple disabilities (disability level of 80%) and aged between 18-79 years under the Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme (IGNDPS). The amount of pension to IGNDPS beneficiaries increases to Rs.500/- per month on attaining the age of 80 years.

(d) & (e): No, Sir. There is no proposal to increase the amount of pension to persons with disabilities under IGNDPS.
