(b) if so, the details of such flights indicating their percentage in the total flights of Air India;

(c) the reasons therefor; and

(d) the efforts made by the Government to make these flights profitable?

Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF STATE OF THE MINISTRY OF CIVIL AVIATION ( SHRI RAJIV PRATAP RUDY )

(a): No, Sir. Air India makes cash profit on all the routes except domestic routes and domestic hub & spoke. However, these flights are either positioning flights or they feed traffic from different interior points to international flights from gateway airports. Therefore their profitability should be seen in conjunction with the profitability of the network and not in isolation.
(b), (c) and (d): Do not arise.
