(a) whether availability of water,effluent treatment and disposal of thetreated water and solid effluents are majorchallenges faced by the textile sector acrossthe country;

(a) & (b): Yes Madam. Textile processing sector across the country has been facing challenges of availability of water, effluent treatment and waste water management. Environmental concerns have been reported in textile processing clusters of Tirupur, Erode and Karur, Pali, Balotra and Ludhiana.

(c) & (d): In order to support the processing, Ministry of Textiles, has introduced the Integrated Processing Development Scheme in the XII five year plan in a PPP mode for meeting environmental standards through appropriate technology including marine, riverine and Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD).
