Question : Waste Management

(a) whether the panel of NITI Aayog proposes to include solid waste management,waste to energy techniques and comprehensive national plan to treat industrial affluent under the ambit of the ambitious scheme ‘Swachh Bharat’;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the officials of NITI Aayog have visited State capitals and cities to study their models of solid and municipal waste management, if so, the details thereof;
(d) whether the aforesaid team has submitted its report, if so, the details and findings thereof along with action taken by the Government thereon; and

(e) if not, the time by which the said report is likely to be submitted by the said team?

(a)&(b): The Sub-Group of Chief Ministers on Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan constituted by the Governing Council of NITI Aayog has not yet submitted its report.

(c)to(e): Teams of officers from NITI Aayog and the Nodal Officers of the member-States for Sub-Group of Chief Ministers on Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan have visited some States to study the best practices and technologies in the field of Sanitation and Solid & Liquid Waste Management. A presentation on the observations of the teams has been made before the Sub-Group of Chief Ministers. The Sub-Group of Chief Ministers on Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan has not yet submitted its report.
