STATEMENT IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (e) OF LOK SABHA STARRED () QUESTION NO. 468 FOR 11.08.2014 REGARDING UPPER AIRSPACE HARMONISATION
(a) : The utilisation of airspace and the revenue earned thereon by Airports Authority of India (AAI) during the last three years is as follows:

(b) : Yes, Madam. A blueprint in the form of ATM Strategic plan exists for the development of airspace infrastructure and utilization, including Upper Airspace. This plan, based on ICAO guidelines provides the roadmap for the Air Traffic and Airspace Management requirements to meet the current and future growth of Air Traffic. The salient features of the plan are:-
(i) Implementation of Upper Airspace Harmonization.
(ii) Implementation of Performance Based Navigation.
(iii) Air Traffic Service (ATS) Route structure optimization.
(iv) Augmentation/Up gradation of Communication, Navigation and Surveillance infrastructure.
(v) Air Traffic Management (ATM) Research and Development.
(vi) Standardized training and development of Controllers.
(c) to (e) : Yes, Madam. The Upper Airspace Harmonisation has already been implemented in Chennai Flight Information Region (FIR) and is under implementation in Kolkata FIR. AAI plans to implement the same in Delhi FIR in 2015 and subsequently at Mumbai FIR.
