(a) The capacity utilisation of Major Ports in respect of container cargo during last three years and the current year is enclosed at Annexure.
(b) Shipping containers (empties) are imported by respective shipping lines which are private agencies.
(c) No, Madam.
(d)&(e):Ministry of Shipping has engaged a consultant to conduct a study on the factors and conditions that should be put in place (including port and vessel related charges, maintenance of draft, simplification of customs procedures etc.) for developing transhipment hubs in the country. The study report has been received and necessary follow up action has been initiated on the recommendations of the Consultant.
