Question : ASPRIN FOR HEART PATIENTS



(a) whether the attention of the Government has been drawn to the news-item captioned `Disprin gets a make-over` appearing in the Hindustan Times dated July 29, 2001 as also to a public notice captioned `For Public Information` appearing in the Hindustan Times dated September 7, 2001;

(b) if so, the facts of the matter reported therein; and

(c) the time by which a low dose Asprin would be available in the market for the Heart Patients?

(a) & (b) M/s. Reckitt Benckiser (India) Ltd. through the Hindustan times dated Sept. 7th 2001 had drawn attention of the general public that in order to meet the growing demand for low dose Aspirin, the firm is scheduled to launch another 100 mg Aspirin brand as a prescription drug for heart ailments.

(c) The firm has clarified that low dose Asprin under another brand name Disprin CV under low dose cardiac segment has been postponed, however colsprin 100 (a low dose Aspirin which was launched since 1994) would continue to be marketed as a prescription drug for heart ailments for which stocks are freely available.
