(a) whether the Government has set-up Model colleges in various parts of the country;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) the total number of such model colleges set-up in Kalahandi and Nuapada districts of Odisha during the last four years; and
(d) the details of the total number of such model colleges proposed to be set-up in the coming years state-wise?

(a) to (c): Education being in the Concurrent List, creation of new institutions and enhancing the quality of education are the responsibilities of both the Central and State Governments. However, recognizing the need for central assistance, the Central Government has implemented various schemes for supporting State Governments. Under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), inter alia, central support has been approved for setting up of 130 new Model Degree Colleges (MDCs) which include one MDC each in the districts of Nuapada and Kahalandi in Odisha which were approved in 2013-14 and 2018-19 respectively. The state-wise details of the new MDC approved under RUSA are annexed.
(d): Under the scheme of RUSA, it was envisaged to approve central support for 130 units under the component of New Model Degree Colleges and this target has already been achieved.
