+137. SHRI ARJUN MEGHWAL:

Will the Minister of CULTURE be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government is aware that several organizations have requested to decrease the construction area earmarked by ASI due to the difficulties in the construction in the areas which are conserved by ASI;
(b) if so, the details of the conserved areas;
(c) whether the Government has received proposals from several organisations and people for construction in and around the ancestral place of the first and former President of India; and
(d) if so, the details of the proposals and action taken thereon?

(a)&(b) Yes, Madam. A few organizations have represented for reduction in prohibited and regulated area around protected monuments/ sites. As per the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1958 (as amended) an area upto 100 metres from protected limit has been declared as prohibited area and area upto 200 metres further beyond prohibited limit has been declared as regulated area.

(c)&(d) As per information received from National Monuments Authority, no proposal has been received for construction in and around the Jiradei, Siwan Distt., Bihar, Ancestral Place of First President of India.
