Question : DEVELOPMENT OF PINK CITY

(a) whether the Government propose to develop the `Pink City` as a `World Heritage City`;

(b) if so, the salient features of the `World Heritage City` along with the names of such cities in the world ;

(c) Whether any other cities in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and other States are being considered for development into a `World Heritage Cities`; and

(d) if so, the details thereof along with their salient features, location-wise?

(a) To be eligible for inclusion in the World Heritage List, UNESCO has laid down guidelines. These include evaluation of spatial organization, structures, materials, forms and where possible, functions of a group of buildings etc. So far Government has not taken up evaluation of any Indian city for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
