Question : NPA OF BANKS



(a) the amount of loan advanced by the Public Sector gnks are lying outstanding as on 31st December 2005, DanK-wise;

(b) the number of companies whose property/assets were auctioned by banks for non-payment of loan;

(c) the amount recovered so far after the passing of securitisation and reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Security Interest Act, 2002; and

(d) the extent to which the non performing assets of Banks reduced?

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE (SHRI PAWAN KUMAR BANSAL):

(a) The bank-wise details of gross loans outstanding of Public Sector Banks (PSBs) as on 31st December, 2005 are given in the enclosed Statement.

(b) RBI does not require reporting of such information by the banks.

(c) The Public Sector Banks have recovered an amount of Rs. 20,705 crore and Rs. 20,519 crore during the year 2003-04 and 2004-05 respectively. The amount recovered by PSBs under SARFAESl Act, 2002 stood at Rs. 4857.71 crore as on 30th September, 2005.

(d) The Gross Non-Perform ing Assets of PSBs have reduced from 7.8% in 2003-04 to 3.0% in 2004-05 and net NPAs from 3.0% in 2003-04 to 3.1% in 2004-05.
