Question : Construction of Motu-Sileru Bridge

(a) whether the construction of Motu-Sileru Bridge across Sileru river on Ranchi-Vijayawada Highway will commence to counter the Maoist menace effectively and also provide alternative route for the security forces for operation purposes;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the State Government of Telangana has sent the revised estimate in the context of the earlier estimate submitted by the State Government of Andhra Pradesh prior to its bifurcation;

(d) if so, whether the Government will take sincere steps and advise Telangana Government for early commencement of the said work so that both the States will be benefited and Naxal activities would also be checked; and

(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): Motu-Sileru Bridge across the Sileru river connects Kalleru village in Andhra Pradesh and Motu village in Odisha. It is not on the Ranchi-Vijayawada Highway but is a part of NH-30. The Bridge will provide an alternative route to the Security Forces for operational purpose and counter the LWE menace effectively.

(c) to (e): No Madam. The bridge falls under the jurisdiction of Andhra Pradesh Government, even after bifurcation of the State. In 2015, the

Government of Andhra Pradesh submitted a revised estimate to the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, which was approved for Rs. 28.06 crore on 30.09.2016. The work is being executed by Andhra Pradesh Government under RRP-I. More than 50% construction work has been completed and it is expected to be finished by 19.06.2018.
