(a) whether the Government have decided to launch the e-post scheme in the country;
(b) if so, names of the districts in Karnataka proposed to be covered;
(c) the time by which all the districts in Karnataka are likely to be provided with this e-post scheme?

(a) & (b): The Department of Posts has launched the e-Post scheme as a pilot project for six months in August, 2001. In this pilot project, the e-Post facility was introduced through 200 Post Offices in the 5 States of Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Goa, Kerala and Maharashtra. Its extension to the rest of the country would depend on the success of the pilot project.
(c) Does not arise in view of (b) above.
