Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF HUMAN RESOSURCE DEVELOPMENT (SHRI JAYSING RAO GAIKWAD PATIL)

(a) to (e): Allocation fir education in the 9th Five Year Plan registered an increase of 234.65% over the allocation in 8th Five Year Plan. The share of Higher Education has also increased form 9.42% to 10.04% during the period. It is the constant endeavour of government to raise the allocation for education to 6% of the national income as provided for in successive National Policies on Education. It has not, however, been possible to reach this level due to overall constraint of resources and competing priorities.
