Answer given by the minister

ANSWER
MINISTER OF LAW AND JUSTICE
(SHRI D. V. SADANANDA GOWDA)

(a) No, Madam
(b) to (d) Article 44 of the Directive Principles of the Constitution sets implementation of Uniform Civil Code as duty of the State. The Government is receiving representations for bringing in a Uniform Civil Code as envisaged under article 44 of the Constitution, which are being examined by the Government. In view of the importance of the subject matter and sensitivity involved, wider consultation with stakeholders would be required for taking further steps in this regard and it may not be possible to lay down any rigid time frame in the matter
