(a) to (f): The Working Group on Tourism for 12th Five Year Plan, set up
by the Planning Commission, has recommended various strategies for
promotion of tourism Industry to increase Indiaâs share of International
Tourist arrivals to at least 1% by end of 12th Plan from the level of 0.64%
in 2011 and to provide adequate facilities for domestic tourism sustain
the growth of over 12% during 12th Plan.
The Ministry of Tourism (MOT) provides Central Financial
Assistance to States/UTs for tourism projects, including those relating to
tourist spots, which are prioritized every year based on discussions with
them, subject to availability of funds, inter-se priority and adherence to
the scheme guidelines. MOT also provides funds for the improvement of
road connectivity leading to the tourist sites, especially from the
National Highways/State highways and other entry points under its Plan
Scheme of Product/Infrastructure Development for Destinations and
Circuits. Identification of tourism projects in the country are primarily
the responsibility of the State Governments/Union Territory (UT)
Administrations. The details of projects and amount sanctioned for all
States/UTs during the 11th Five Year Plan are given in the Annexure.
