(a) & (b): Yes, Sir. The scheme aims at providing basic
educational infrastructure and facilities in areas of
concentration of educationally backward minorities which do
not have adequate provision for elementary and secondary
education. Initiated in 1994 the scheme Identifies 325
blocks and 4 districts spread over 13 States and 3 Union
Territories for interventions. So far the scheme has covered
229 Blocks and 4 Districts in 11 states.
(c) The Scheme has an approved allocation of Rs. 65.00
crore for the Ninthe Plan period. No separate allocation is
made for each state. Allocation of funds to the States depends
upon receipt of proposal from State Governments and
progress of utilization of funds.
(d) & (e) A statement is attached.
(g) Further releases of funds under the scheme to the State
Governments are contigent upon receipt of utilization
certificates and reports on physical progress of work in
respect of grants released earlier.
