(a) whether the Government has undertaken construction of a broad gauge link between Chhapra and Muzaffarpur;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the Government has set a time frame to build the said broad gauge link; and
(d) if so, the details thereof along with the total finances allocated to the project?

(a) to (d): Yes, Madam. Chapra-Muzaffarpur (84.65 Km) New BG Line project was included in the Railways’ Budget 2006-07. Details of the project are as under:-

Earlier part detailed estimate for land acquisition, earthwork and bridge work has been sanctioned for ? 285.07 Crore in the year 2008.
Completion of projects depends upon several factors like complete handing over of encumbrance-free land by the State Government, forestry clearances, shifting of utilities, canal & electrical crossings, etc. Hence, no time-frame has been fixed for completion of this project.
