Question : Trials of Talgo Trains

(a) whether Talgo train technology is fit to run in any conditions and terrain on Indian Railways and if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether Talgo could negotiate curves and climb any hills at much faster speed compared to conventional Indian trains and if so, the facts thereof;

(c) whether the Government has placed the work orders to manufacture the Talgo trains for the Indian Railways and decided the likely manufacturing base and if so, the details thereof;
(d) whethe
r some experts have lodged their dissatisfaction over trial results of the Talgo trains; and

(e) if so, the details thereof and the Government’s reaction thereon?

(a): Talgo train technology is suitable to run on the existing tracks of Indian Railways.

(b): Field trials of Talgo coaches were carried out on existing New Delhi-Mumbai route and during these trials Talgo coaches successfully negotiated curves and gradients on this route at higher speeds compared to conventional coaches.
(c): No, Madam.

(d): No such communication has been received in the Ministry.

(e): Does not arise.
