Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:
(a) whether the State run food testing laboratories need major revamp for ensuring food safety and standards;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the Government has implemented the recommendations of 14th Finance Commission on it; and
(d) if so, the details thereof along with its present status?

(a) & (b): The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has stated that most of the State Food Laboratories need to be upgraded in terms of infrastructure, equipment and trained manpower.
(c ): No grant for food testing laboratories has specifically been recommended by the Fourteenth Finance Commission.
(d): Does not arise.
