Question : Tourism Projects in Andhra Pradesh

(a) the details of tourism projects launched by the Government in the recent past to promote tourism and also create employment opportunities in tourism sector;
(b) the details of each tourism project sanctioned/being implemented in Andhra Pradesh during the last five years for tourism development, particularly in Krishna (Manginapudi and Suryalanka) and Guntur districts; and
(c) the details of employment potential created/proposed to be created due to above projects?

(a) to (c): There are two Schemes being implemented by Ministry of Tourism, Government of India for the promotion of Tourism. These are:
(i) Domestic Promotion and Publicity including Hospitality for promotion of Domestic Tourism.
(ii) Restructured Scheme of Overseas Promotion and Publicity including Marketing Development Assistance to promote Indian tourism in Overseas Markets.

Under these schemes, the Ministry of Tourism, as part of its on-going activities, annually releases print, electronic, online and outdoor media campaigns in the international and domestic markets, under the Incredible India brand-line, to promote various tourism destinations and products of the country, including those in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Promotions are also undertaken through the Social Media accounts and website of the Ministry. In addition, the Indiatourism Offices in India and overseas disseminate information and undertake various promotional activities with the objective of showcasing the varied tourist destinations and products of the country.

The Ministry of Tourism under its schemes of Swadesh Darshan, PRASHAD and Assistance to Central Agencies provides central financial assistance to State Governments/UT Administrations/Central Agencies for development of tourism infrastructure in the country. The projects under the scheme are identified for development in consultation with the State Governments/UT Administrations and are sanctioned subject to availability of funds, submission of suitable detailed project reports, adherence to scheme guidelines and utilization of funds released earlier. One of the major objectives of the above schemes is to position tourism as a major engine of economic growth and job creation.
