(a) whether the Government are encouraging drip irrigation scheme and are also providing
maximum subsidy for this purpose;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the amount of subsidy provided for this purpose during the current year particularly to
Gujarat, State-wise?

(a) & (b): Under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme on Macro Management in Agriculture –
Supplementation/complementation of State Efforts through Work Plan the Government is
providing assistance to the State Governments for taking up various activities including drip
irrigation. Under this Scheme the State Governments have the flexibility to take up programmes
as per the felt needs and requirement. The assistance being provided to the farmers for drip
irrigation during the year 2002-03 is @25% of the cost of the system.
(c): The State-wise details of funds allocated and release made during the current year under
the Macro Management Scheme is given in the Statement at Annexure – I. An amount of
Rs.16.00 crores has been released to the Government of Gujarat out of the outlay of Rs.32.00
crores earmarked under the Scheme during 2002-03.
