Question : Restoration of Channels

(a) whether it has come to the notice of his Ministry that TV5 and ABN Andhra Jyothi, popular TV channels in Andhra Pradesh, approached TDSAT for restoration of their airing which was banned by the Government of Andhra Pradesh and if so, the reaction of the Government thereto;
(b) whether it is true that in spite of TDSATā€™s direction to restore TV5 and ABN Andhra Jyothi services, some cable networks have still not restored ABN Andhra Jyothi; and
(c) if so, the steps taken by the Government to ensure restoration of ABN Andhra Jyothi without any further delay?

(a) to (c) : Multi-System Operator carry permitted satellite TV Channels on their network as per the commercial agreement with the broadcaster. All the relevant issues are governed by the interconnect agreement executed between the broadcaster and the Multi-System Operator. The Ministry has no role in execution of the said agreement.
