Question : COMPENSATION AMOUNT

(a) whether the Government has adopted any criteria for granting compensation to the family members of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) killed in action;

(b) if so, the details of the criteria adopted in this regard;

(c) whether the Government has received any complaints with regard to disparity in the amount of compensation disbursed to family members of the deceased personnel;

(d) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor; and

(e) the effective steps taken by the Government in this regard?

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS (SHRI R.P.N. SINGH)

(a) & (b): Next of Kin (NOK) of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel killed in action are entitled to get a lump-sum ex-gratia compensation of Rs.15 lakh (Rupees fifteen lakh) as per Department of Pensions and Pensioner’s Welfare (DOP&PW) Office Memorandum dated 02/9/2008. In addition, the NOK of the deceased is also entitled to get pension under the Liberalized Pensionary Award (LPA) Rules.

(c): No such complaint has come to the notice of the Government or has been received through the CAPFs.

(d) to (e): Do not arise.
